Five Star Golden Kenyans

Kenyans made history in Moscow
Ednah Kiplagat opened the golden show
The World Marathon champion
Became the first woman to defend her title
Then Milcah Chemos won the steeplechase
The first Kenyan woman ever
To win the 3000m  World title

But for the men it was a routine win
A third consecutive victory for the king
The greatest steeplechaser is history
Ezekiel Kemboi cruised to gold
He gets better as he grows old
Teenager Conseslus Kipruto took silver
Meaning Kenya has a golden future

Asbel Kiprop burst from behind to win
And retain his 1500m crown
He is the reigning four lap king
Hellen Obiri held bronze in the women’s event
Paul Tanui took bronze in 10,000 metres
Isaiah Kiplagat grabbed bronze in 5,000 metres
Both men falling to the amazing Mo Farah
And the more energetic Ethiopians

We have a new national Javelin record!
Thanks to the incredible YouTube man
The sensational Kenya team captain
Julius Yego narrowly missed a medal
But three women won silver medals
Lidya Chepkirui in the steeplechase
Gladys Cherono in 10,000 metres
And Mercy Cherono in 5,000 metres
Again these two latter women
Losing to the more powerful Ethiopians

Eunice Sum summed up Kenya’s exploits
With an explosive surprising run
To seize Kenya’s fifth gold medal
To be crowned the 800m World champion
A golden 5 star performance by Kenyans

Special mention to the impeccable (Uganda’s) Stephen Kiprotich for winning the Men’s Marathon. He is Kenyan anyway.
